Play information:

The Man Who Came to Dinner is the classic 1939 comedy of the clash that occurs when a pompous celebrity, famous for his acerbic wit, larger-than-life appetites and hordes of Hollywood friends, unexpectedly becomes an imperious houseguest of a small-town Ohio family for an extended stay just before Christmas after breaking his hip slipping on their icy doorstep.

The parade of eccentric visitors that crosses the family’s threshold, as well as the meddling in their lives that the aforementioned celebrity orchestrates, makes for delightfully screwball holiday hilarity that hasn’t lost a bit of its pungency in the years since it premiered to great acclaim on Broadway.
For actors, there are plenty of roles to showcase unique personalities and types, so, if you are between the ages of 20 and 75, and are interested in being part of one of the most beloved comedies in the American theater, please see below for a look at the character descriptions.

And, if you are relatively new to acting, there are plenty of small-but-terrific roles that are ideal for those who want to dip their toes in the waters of performing – juicy parts that offer full characterizations, but not so much stage time as to overwhelm the newcomer. You will receive plenty of one-on-one coaching and learn basic acting skills you can build on in the future.
Come one, come all!

  1. I am a 69 year old with limited acting experience. Just moved here from Maryland. I look younger than my age so I can play the 60 somethings. Do I pick one of the audition dates or will they be assigned? I am excited about this opportunity.

    • Thanks for asking your question! Our auditions are open with no appointment necessary. Just come on by and give it a shot!
